Started writing as an avocation in 1991 while working fulltime in corporate roles and published first book in 2005 (Into the Unknown, the biography of adventurer and medical pioneer, Dr. Hans Kraus). Vice President, Executive Search.  Responsible for market research, recruiting, and client development as well as writing industry analyses, candidate profiles, and market overviews for this high-end executive search boutique. Specialized in senior management positions for Fortune 500 companies and smaller blue chip organizations in financial services and consulting.


- Clients included: Manhattan Consulting Group, Booz Allen, CSC Index, Morgan Stanley, Marsh Inc, Thomson Electronic Settlements, Behrman Capital, National City Corp., Mercer Oliver Wyman, Private Capital Management, and the Federal Reserve.

Athena Ventures, NY (1996 –1998)           

Vice President, Marketing and Recruiting. Recruited by a client at my former employer to join this start-up, seed stage biotech venture capital firm. Responsible for fund marketing and recruiting CEO’s, Boards of Directors, and Scientific Board members. Portfolio companies include:


- TyRxPharma: Next-generation resorbable polymeric biomaterials, with tyrosine-based resorbable polymer systems used in drug delivery and medical devices (www.tyrxpharma.com).

- Elusys Therapeutics: Biotherapeutic treatments for infectious diseases such as anthrax (www.elusys.com).

 

Korn/Ferry International, NY (1988 – 1996)

Principal, Financial Services Practice. Responsible for new business development, client management, search execution, and related writing projects. Clients included: S.G. Warburg, Societe Generale, Citibank, GE Capital, First Union, Credit Lyonnais, and Bear Stearns. Recruited for positions in investment banking, law, private banking, risk management, credit risk, loan syndications, operations and strategic planning.

From 1986 to 1988, Executive Search - Goodrich & Sherwood, NY. From 1980 to 1985, Account Executive - Grey Advertising, hired into industry “best in breed” MBA training program. From 1978 to 1979, Swimming Coach - Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, PA, training a nationally ranked boy’s high school swim team.

Harvard College (A.B. Honors 1978). Entered as a sophomore, majored in history.

Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University, NY  (1979-1980).  Completed first year on an academic scholarship (left to enter business).
